Our History
The Southend Tamil Association (STA) was formed on 2nd June 2010, mainly to serve the linguistic, cultural and social needs of the Tamil community of Southend-On-Sea and its surrounding areas. The main object of the association was to teach language and culture to the younger generation to enable them to learn and preserve the rich, ancient history and heritage of the Tamils, as well as unite all Tamil and non-Tamil people through the language and heritage. The STA is managed by a committee of volunteers whose aims are to protect and serve the community’s needs. The STA has grown as an organisation, and in April 2020, it became a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO – 1189156).

எல்லோருக்கும் வணக்கம்
செளந்தென்ட் தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் கடந்த 15 ஆண்டுகளாக செளத்தென்டிலும் அதனை சுற்றியுள்ள பிரதேசங்களில் வசிக்கும் தமிழ் மக்களின் கலை கலாச்சார விழுமியங்களை பேணி பாதுகாக்கும் வண்ணம் கலாச்சார நிகள்வுகள் கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் விளையாட்டு போட்டி முதலியவற்றை நடாத்திவருகின்றது
அத்துடன் தமிழ் மொழியையும் தமிழ் கலாச்சாரத்தையும் அடுத்த சந்ததியினருக்கு கடத்தும்முகமாக தமிழ் மக்களின் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு கட்டணமில்லாத தமிழ் கல்வியையும். சங்கீதம் நடனம் வாத்திய கருவிகளையும் சிறிய கட்டணத்துடன் பயிற்றுவித்துவருகின்றது இந்த பணிகளை திறம்பட செய்வதற்கு உங்கள் எல்லோரதும் ஒத்துளைப்பு மிகமிக அவசியம் தொடர்ந்து உங்கள் ஆதரவினை வழங்குமாறு கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்

STA TAMIL SCHOOL
சௌத்தென்ட் தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தின் கட்டணமில்லாத் தாய்மொழிக்கல்வி.
The STA formed a Tamil School formerly named “Southend Tamil School” currently named “Southend Tamil Association’s School”, on 25th September 2010, with the aspect of providing Tamil education to children of the community. In the general format of a state-funded school, the Tamil school has a hierarchy of teachers, headteacher, assistant teachers, secretaries and PAs. Classes are conducted in line with national school calendars, both in person and online. Extra-curricular activities are offered alongside the language classes, and students are prepared for national exams and GCSE/A-Level examinations, conducted by UK registered exam boards.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for students of all ages, helping them connect with their heritage and develop a strong foundation in Tamil.
