Travelling together in faith – temple pilgrimages with the Southend Tamil family.

Every few years Southend Tamil Association fills a coach – sometimes two – and sets off on pilgrimage. Elders, parents and children travel together, sing bhajans on the way, share the food everyone has packed, and spend a day or two in prayer at a temple far from home. It is worship, a family outing and a community reunion all in one – and for many of our children it is their very first pilgrimage.
Our trips are organised by volunteers of the Association. Seats are booked in advance with a small contribution towards the coach, and members, friends and families are all welcome.

2019 · Pilgrimage
A day of prayer at the temple, and a walk in the countryside together afterwards.
6–7 August 2022 · Skanda Vale, Wales
Nearly a hundred of us travelled by coach to the Skanda Vale ashram in Carmarthenshire – two days of pooja, community meals and the green Welsh hills.
Summer 2025 · Skanda Vale
Back to Wales for another pilgrimage with the Southend Tamil family.

- We travel by coach from Southend – seats are booked in advance with a small contribution towards the coach.
- Elders, families and children are all welcome; younger members help those who need a hand.
- Prayers, bhajans and shared food on the way; pooja and time for quiet at the temple.
